Includes what equipment is needed, how to put it together, understanding bees and bee behaviour, bee life cycle, dealing with stings, the smoker and its use, different hive options and their advantages and disadvantages, hive positions, food sources for bees, pest and diseases, hive registration, inspecting a Langstroth hive, hive maintenance through the seasons. Provided the weather is good, we spend nearly two hours at the hive so you learn how to handle the bees. Good reading resources and information on where to purchase bees or collect swarms is provided.
